If you play any orchestral instrument to at least Grade 6 standard, we’d love to meet you.

Auditions take place at the orchestra’s rehearsal venue, Whitchurch High School, annually. Dates are published through schools and on the Youth Orchestra’s website, Twitter, and Facebook accounts.

Where? Auditions will be held at:
Whitchurch High School (Lower School) Glan-Y-Nant Terrace, Whitchurch, CARDIFF, CF14 1WL.

Audition requirements: 

At the audition you will be asked to play 2 contrasting pieces of music (grade 6+), scales and arpeggios of the appropriate grade and some sight-reading.

  

Auditions for entry in September 2026 will be held in July 2026

Strings: Wednesday 8th July 2026 from 6 - 8pm

Woodwind: Monday 6th July 2026 from 6-7pm

Brass: Tuesday 7th July 2026 from 6-7pm

Percussion: Friday 3rd July 2026 from 5-6pm

Harps:  Friday 3rd July 2026 from 5-6pm
